CHAMPIONS LEAGUE PLAY OFF: MAN UTD FACES CLUB BRUGGE

Manchester United will face Club Brugge in the Champions League play-off round, having been pitted against the Belgian side at the draw in Nyon on Friday.

The ties against Brugge will be played on Tuesday 18 and Wednesday 26 August, with the opening leg at Old Trafford, and this will be the first time the Reds have entered the competition at this stage since 2005, when a 6-0 aggregate victory over Hungarians Debrecen gave Sir Alex Ferguson’s men a safe passage to the group stages.

Brugge came from behind to defeat Panathinaikos 4-2 on aggregate in the previous round and have never played the Reds before in a competitive fixture.
